Daviess County Community Foundation Awards Grants Totaling More Than $252,000 To Twenty Local Nonprofits
The Daviess County Community Foundation is distributing $252,441 in grants to twenty local nonprofit organizations through its 2023 Community Good Grant Program.
This year’s grant recipients are:
- $3,200 to Senior and Family Services, Inc. to purchase an overhead, braced awning with a drainage system, including installation for the back entrance
- $25,000 to Youth First, Inc. to support the Youth First School-Based Social Work Program that provides free access to expert mental health support to students in nine K-12 Daviess County schools
- $2,122 to Chemo Buddies to provide first-day chemo comfort kit bags (chapstick, hand sanitizer, port pillow, neck rest, handmade warm blanket, tissues, game books, candy, chocolate, journal, pen, etc.), wigs, hats and accessories, and periodic transportation for chemo patients
- $4,300 to Daviess County Partnership, Inc. to purchase a business laptop and support the fee to add six churches to the Charity Tracker database
- $15,191 to First Choice Solutions to purchase material necessities for at-risk children and a one-year renewal of the Bright Course Educational Program
- $4,000 to Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Daviess County for the purchase of learning kit materials (scissors, triangular pencils, sharpeners and erasers, foam letters and numbers, play dough, dry-erase markers, small tongs and items to pick up, dice, paper to cut and laminated cards and games) for the Be Kindergarten Ready! program
- $10,000 to Tri-State Food Bank for assistance with the Operation Full Pack Program which will provide one box of supplemental food per month to approximately 70 Veterans
- $10,037 to Washington Band Boosters Association to purchase instruments to build an inventory for students from low-income families to use free of charge
- $5,740 to Daviess County Pickleball for the purchase of pickleball equipment (balls, tubes, carts, paddles for youth, and targets), a practice machine, and tents for shade
- $40,000 to Daviess County Family YMCA to assist with the purchase and installation of the HRU system for the swimming pool
- $40,000 to Daviess Community Hospital Foundation to purchase an SUV for the Community Paramedic Program
- $29,450 to Four Rivers Resource Services, Inc. to assist with the development of a video highlighting real-life community success, an intense, multi-media campaign to educate all members of the community about the benefits and positive impact of inclusion
- $3,000 to Southwest Indiana Powerhouse to purchase weighted plates for barbell use, five foldable kayaks, five paddles, and four life jackets
- $4,200 to Bread of Life Ministry Inc. to assist with the cost to bring two semi-loads of donated food products to Daviess County to be distributed among the food pantries and partnering agencies
- $10,266 to Veale Creek Players for the purchase and installation of a new sound and light system
- $29,135 to Comforting Hearts-Washington Free Methodist Church to purchase three critical pieces of equipment for the inclusive playground in Longfellow Park
- $5,000 to Friends for Animals, Inc. for the spay/neuter project in Daviess County
- $1,800 to Senior and Family Services, Inc. to purchase a new computer and printer for the Odon Center
- $5,000 to Washington Baseball Boosters, Inc. to assist with the locker room renovation project
- $5,000 to Little Warrior Wishes, Inc. to assist with the wish-granting program for Daviess County children ages 0-5 who have been given a terminal or life-limiting diagnosis
Community Good Grants are made possible by the Community Good/Unrestricted Funds and Field of Interest Funds created by generous donors of the Daviess County Community Foundation.
